Honoring Beloved Community
What is a Beloved Community? It's a place....
Together we can create a Beloved Global Community
starting with our local beloved places. |
We Invite You to Share Your Story
Step 1: Reflect
Reflect on the wisdom and passion of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“The aftermath of violence is bitterness. The aftermath of non-violence is the creation of Beloved Community, so that when the battle is over, a new relationship comes into being. The end is reconciliation. The end is redemption. This is the love that may well be the salvation of our civilization.” – The Honorable Martin Luther King Jr. |
Step 2: Identify
Identify your place of Beloved Community.
Ask yourself: “Where are the places in my community where I feel welcome, safe and can be myself; where acceptance is for all; where healthy patterns of non-violent engagement and healing happen; and where I find my heart guiding my actions?” You have named Beloved Community for you. |
Step 3: Tell Your Story
Submit your story, photos, videos and documents.
Your story can inform and inspire others that Beloved Community is already happening in our region. Here are some suggestions to consider when you write your story:
|
We will publish your stories and map these places on our website, feeding back the compassionate action and goodness that is happening every day in our neighborhoods. Be sure to tell your friend and colleagues, share the map and your story widely, and encourage others to follow your example.
|
And then you could take one more compassionate action.
